It is hard to believe that 2016 is already coming to an end. It has been a great year overall. I got to experience many things that I have only dreamed of doing. I walked the red carpet for the Captain America: Civil War premiere, I was able to interview Chris Evans, I took my girls on a Disney Cruise, I visited Skywalker Ranch, and I even got to go on the set of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2! It has been a whirlwind of a year, but I just know 2017 will be better! I have thought long and hard about my top 5 goals for the year and I thought writing them down would make them more real – make me actually commit to them.

My weight loss from 2013 to 2014

Lose At Least 30 Pounds

I am just going to come out and say it guys – I am overweight again. About 3 years ago, I lost over 50 pounds and felt great about myself. Over the past year, life has gotten in the way of my routine. I no longer find the time to workout – and I can honestly say that I miss it. With my girls doing school, dance, and all sorts of extra activities, my eating habits have gotten worse. We barely eat at home because we are always on the go, and sometimes, a drive through is the easiest solution. I want to be healthy for myself and for my children – I want to set a good example. I have done it before and I know I can do it again. Ideally I would like to lose 40-50 pounds again, but setting a goal of 30 by 2018 seems doable and reasonable to me. Wish me luck!

Start Cooking More

This goes hand and hand with losing weight. I am not a great cook, never have been. It’s not that when I cook it doesn’t come out well, because it does, it is just that I am not creative enough to come up with recipes on my own. I got several new cookbooks this year and I plan to use them in 2017 and beyond. I want to eat healthy foods at home – and I want them to taste good. With my youngest going off to school in September, I know I will have more time to focus on it in the end of 2017, but I plan to start now.

Always Be One Week Ahead

To make my life easier and less stressful, I want to constantly have at least one week of blog posts scheduled and ready to go live. Yes of course things will come up last minute here and there, but I do not want to feel rushed to get work done all the time. If I have seven or more posts all done, I will not be majorly effected if I have to take a day or two off due to illness, snow days, or just to take some me time. I have actually started this in December 2016 and I am feeling a lot less pressure – and am loving it!

Increase My Personal Income

It’s all about the benjamins, baby. But seriously, I have worked my butt off this year and my income has increased – but I want to continue the uptick through out next year. I think this is a goal that most people have every year, but it is a big one for me. I enjoy contributing to the household and having some extra money. I mean, who doesn’t?

Call Friends and Family More

This will likely be the hardest goal to accomplish for me this year. That probably sounds awful but it is true. I feel like there are not enough hours in the day to cook, clean, work – let alone find the time to call family and friends to just sit down and talk for an hour or so. I love catching up with my friends and family but it usually few and far between. I am the worst friend because life and moming just gets in the way all too often. But not in 2017. I won’t let it.
