One of the most exciting parts of the day for some parents is when their kids are asleep. As challenging and rewarding as parenting can be, sometimes parents just need a little time to relax and unwind. You don’t need to hire a sitter or ask one of your relatives to come over to watch the children. You don’t even need to leave the house.
I have never run a race in my life. My husband was a runner in high school though, so he is not stranger to them. I have always wanted to do a 5K or 10K – especially with Disney – so I was thrilled to learn about the Castaway Cay 5K that I could run while on my Disney Cruise! As tough as it was, it was actually a blast – and I was so proud of myself after doing it. I finished in 36 minutes, which I think is pretty good considering I was eating cruise food and enjoying wine for 6 solid days before it! I enjoyed it so much that I think I caught the running bug! I am hoping to do a run at Disney World next – perhaps the Princess Run?!?

I know that I can trust them and being able to reorder what I need with the click of a button makes my life a lot easier!
While much of the world got a hearty laugh out of the well-meaning gesture of college officials handing out Play Doh to students who were distraught over Donald Trump’s victory in the last presidential election, it was a nice thought. Actually, it did something to lighten the spirits of some people. However, it did little for those who were running around campuses destroying everything in sight. Some psychologists suggest that we forget therapeutic Play Doh and focus on growing plants instead. Me time? What is that? I hear you shout. For moms in the 21 st century, there doesn’t seem to be much ‘me time’. Many work busy jobs, as well as looking after their families. Those that stay at home have lives full of kid’s appointments and events, or they are just with the children, all the time, which can be more challenging than anything else. You need some time off. Let the mom guilt go, and spend a little time every week, doing something for you.

Most of us wouldn’t even leave the house before our smartphones have a 100% charge. Naturally, technology is also shaping up other industries, including healthcare. I decided to take control of my life again this year. Being a mom of two little ones, a wife, a housekeeper, and still running this site has taken a lot out of me the last few years. I am not saying that I am not happy – because I am – but I gained weight, have been having too much wine (no such thing though, right?), have stopped working out, and have slipped back in to very poor eating habits. For my New Year’s Resolution, I promised myself that this was all going to change. I have started Nutrisystem, set a great workout routine again, picked up some new books for some me time, and best of all – my husband is doing it all right along side me. Having his support is going to make a huge difference -and already has. In just one week I feel more relaxed, have lost 8 lbs and 1.5 inches off my waist, and feel a stronger bond with my kids and my husband. Below are some other things that I plan to utilize in 2017, and I hope you do too!
There are more illnesses than ever threatening the wellbeing of our children – and ourselves – these days. Cases of children getting diagnosed with diabetes are being found across the country. Worryingly, the number of diabetic children is on the rise. The combination of a bad diet, too much sugar intake and lack of exercise are pinpointed as the main causes of this rise. Children’s love for sugary food and video games may be at fault.
It is hard to believe that 2016 is already coming to an end. It has been a great year overall. I got to experience many things that I have only dreamed of doing. I walked the red carpet for the Captain America: Civil War premiere, I was able to interview Chris Evans, I took my girls on a Disney Cruise, I visited Skywalker Ranch, and I even got to go on the set of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2! It has been a whirlwind of a year, but I just know 2017 will be better! I have thought long and hard about my top 5 goals for the year and I thought writing them down would make them more real – make me actually commit to them.

While some are small fender benders, others end up being fatal. Teen drivers are especially at risk of getting in an auto accident due to their lack of driving experience. As a parent, it is our job to ensure they are well prepared when driving on the road. This is not only for their safety, but the safety of their passengers and other drivers on the road.
