I have never run a race in my life. My husband was a runner in high school though, so he is not stranger to them. I have always wanted to do a 5K or 10K – especially with Disney – so I was thrilled to learn about the Castaway Cay 5K that I could run while on my Disney Cruise! As tough as it was, it was actually a blast – and I was so proud of myself after doing it. I finished in 36 minutes, which I think is pretty good considering I was eating cruise food and enjoying wine for 6 solid days before it! I enjoyed it so much that I think I caught the running bug! I am hoping to do a run at Disney World next – perhaps the Princess Run?!?
Spring is almost here! We all know because we just lost that precious hour. If you have young kids like me, it could prove to be difficult to get yourself back in to the swing of things. I know we are always dragging for at least a week after we set the clocks forward. To help you (and myself) get through this time and to prepare for Spring, I have put together some items that will help you “reset” yourself in many different ways. From tracking money back guarantees, to booking vacations – all of these will help you hit refresh and reset on your life.
I have fallen in love with the Amazon Dash Button. I have mentioned it to you before, but it is a Wi-Fi connected device that reorders your favorite product with the press of a button. It is easy to set up and even easier to use! Just open up your Amazon shopping app on your smartphone to connect your home Wi-Fi network to your dash button. Once connected, a single press of the Dash Button automatically places your order with Amazon Prime free shipping – ensuring you never run out of your essentials again! I use this for several of my daily use items, so I was thrilled when I discovered Colgate signed on with the program. Colgate is my go to brand for toothpaste, mouthwash, and even toothbrushes. I know that I can trust them and being able to reorder what I need with the click of a button makes my life a lot easier!
While much of the world got a hearty laugh out of the well-meaning gesture of college officials handing out Play Doh to students who were distraught over Donald Trump’s victory in the last presidential election, it was a nice thought. Actually, it did something to lighten the spirits of some people. However, it did little for those who were running around campuses destroying everything in sight. Some psychologists suggest that we forget therapeutic Play Doh and focus on growing plants instead. Here are just some of the reasons why gardening is actually therapeutic and great for our mental health.

I am one of those people that cannot get through my morning without a cup of coffee or two. If I don’t have coffee, I just cannot function. In order to get healthier, I have recently stopped using creamer and sugar in my coffee. It sounded awful at first but thanks to Brooklyn Bean Roastery, I have been able to actually enjoy black coffee. They have so many different flavors that I feel like I am still getting variety with my coffee. One of my all time favorite flavors is their Coney Island Caramel Coffee.
Between me working from home and my daughter’s school projects, we use a lot of printer paper. My youngest daughter is only 4 and not in school yet and we work on her letters, math, and writing at home. To help me do this, I print a lot of materials. Not to mention all the coloring pages that my girls insist of printing out (on a daily basis!). I have learned the hard way that choosing the right printer paper for the task at hand is very important. If you choose the wrong paper you can end up with ink bleeding through to the other side (or your desk or table), jammed paper, smudged paper, and even ripped paper. That is why I have teamed up with Boise POLARIS Premium Paper to help you discover the right paper for the job.
My girls and I love being creative in the kitchen, especially around the holidays. But let’s be honest, sometimes there just isn’t time to do the baking part. To celebrate Valentine’s Day this year, we decided to go ahead and let Otis Spunkmeyer handle the baking part for us (because they are amazing at it) and we would have fun with the decorating part. We started with some of their mini cupcakes – chocolate and vanilla – and decided to turn them into a Valentine’s Day Cupcake Cake! We purchased some pink strawberry frosting and some sprinkles and got to work. You can do this yourself and it is REALLY easy (and delicious).
Me time? What is that? I hear you shout. For moms in the 21 st century, there doesn’t seem to be much ‘me time’. Many work busy jobs, as well as looking after their families. Those that stay at home have lives full of kid’s appointments and events, or they are just with the children, all the time, which can be more challenging than anything else. You need some time off. Let the mom guilt go, and spend a little time every week, doing something for you.
This Valentine’s Day, consider a boozy homemade twist on Cupid’s most popular sweet – bourbon caramel dark chocolate truffles. Made with David Nicholson Reserve, these truffles are sure to satisfy any sweet tooth.
